Pre-Labor Day Weekend

Well this is the start of our last Hurrah for the summer of 2007. I would love to see some activity on this site after the weekend with your tales. I am going to have a great weekend with some of our class alum and I will tell you all about it next week. In the meantime, remember to take pictures and remember to post or comment.

The ending of summer vacation.

Well, with the closing of another chapter in the "Williams' Vacation Scrapbook", we are heading to South Padre Island to enjoy the last weekend before the school year begins. I have been watching the weather "Dean" reports following that terrible storm!!!! At last report.....I think that it will not hit the Texas area......we will see. My son, Brian, will be a 10Th grader this year and the need to relax and kickback before the grind of studing is really needed.
Cathy.....I lost another assistant!!!! I am finding that they reach their level of "incompetence" by the sixth month of employment, and quit!!! I even hired a part-time person to answer the phones in the morning to help her out. Oh Well...... ;-)

Oz you know we missed you! I am glad we at least got to talk to you and it was great having lunch with you last year while planning the reunion. Saw you in the "Cheetah Girls" movie too :)

I spoke with Ted Wachtel today and he had wanted to come to reunion but had to travel for work. I am sending him the link to the blog.

As an addendum to Oz's post below, and besides a photo of some of the cheerleaders under REFLECTIONS on this page (left), I am posting a few of some of the other girls pictures here. There were other cheerleaders that attended :)

Yes, the girls are still in great form and as beautiful as ever.

I am sorry I missed the reunion. I was in Vancouver working on the TV series PSYCH. Tried to come but there is only one direct flight to NY from Vancouver a day and that one is always full, so I had to settle for Salt Spring Island off the coast of Vancouver, staying on St. Mary's Lake sailing during the day relaxing in the evening but thinking of all of you.

Just saw Kimberly Sizemore who raved about everything and everyone. She said it was small but full of love. She said the MVHS '67 Cheerleaders were still in form

Would love to hear how everyone is doing.

Ok -- So it's Saturday and it's quiet as a mouse

Ok -- so it's Saturday and it is quiet as a mouse and nobody is posting or commenting on our page. I see that a few more people have joined as members so that tells me that someone is reading my posts at least. I have faith.

I have had the pleasure of walking down memory lane with Frankie Marallo. It is funny what things you remember easily, and then others you pull from your archives when prompted. As with Jane Williams at reunion, she brought up memories of my early years that I had totally forgotten. As with Frankie, he filled in a lot of blanks and reminded me of the part of my life spent in "Little Italy" on North 5th Avenue (I think I lived in all parts of MV at some point). He even shared a few things about our parents when they were kids. Mt. Vernon was really close knit in our parents' day. I have also come to find out that there are many people I am related to that I never knew about. Looking back sometimes opens your eyes to new things.

Just throwing this one out there to jog some memories in you. Does anyone remember the feasts... on 5th Avenue for St. Anthony..the Mt. Carmel feast.. Sacred Heart feast.. St. Peter and Paul feast? I went to them all. The St. Anthony one was in front of my house when I was young. Whether you were Catholic, Baptist, Jewish...or your heritage was Irish, Italian, Greek, African or like me...a mutt...I am sure you have memories of the food, the games, and the rides at these feasts that were special times for us in the summer when we were growing up... and Wilson Pool.

Since I am the one remembering and I was thinking about food, I also remember fun times preparing for and attending many seders with friends at their temple. I can also make a great Hamentashen now too (yes I know it isn't related to seder) :) (oh but the prune ones are my downfall)-- Lots of great memories with good friends.

So, since I walked down memory lane with Frankie Marallo (I guess he has become Frank now), here are a few pictures of Frank. Can you pick him out of the reunion photo with "the Boys"?

Ok, So It's Wednesday

Ok.. so it's Wednesday and nothing has changed on this page since I last posted on Monday. Is anyone out there reading my chatter? If so, please comment or even post a blog blurb. Many of you haven't signed onto the site so I don't know if you received the emails I sent with the link specifically for you.

I will continue posting, but I really would like to know if anyone is reading this and really would like you guys to join in.

I have more pictures to post that have been sent to me. I will do that soon.

If I am going to remind you of how others look, I might as well remind you who I am. So, this first picture is me, Cathy Anne Sharpe. Sheesh, what was I thinking wearing stripes! I received emails from several of our former classmates telling me how much they enjoyed reunion and how good it was to see old friends. I have also received additional emails and calls from those who did not attend.

Joel contacted me both before and after the reunion, he shared:
Been out of the area for Business. I cannot attend the reunion it is my 34th Wedding Anniversity on the 29th of July. Give my regards to the class and let them know I am alive and well -proud parent of two young ladies 30 an 26 Allyson and Melissa. Allyson is Executive CFO of the College Boards in Manhattan and Melissa is HR Manager for the Non Profit Firm of Alpha ! in Miami, Fla. I enclosed a picture of the family. (see above)

First Mini Get-Together

To keep the warm fuzzies going, last night I had dinner with Helene Hoffman (Fierman), Marc Fierman, and Sandra Stroud (Dubriske). It was just a little spur of the moment thing that we decided to do this week since Sandy will be returning to SC once the summer is over.

Have any of you gotten together, had phone conversations, or emails since our reunion? Tell us about the reconnecting you have done. Let's keep in touch.

I re-sent out invitations to the site today because I was afraid that the email generated from the blog might be viewed as or going into spam. I hope the email reached many more of you and you will be adding yourself to our blog -- and posting!

In the future, I think I might post features on classmates so we can get to know about some of the wonderful things our classmates have been doing -- from raising a family, to governing the people, or helping to heal the sick. I have already begun collecting some data. That should be fun and informative.
