Almost 45 years has flashed by!!

Well, I see that a bunch of people have been googling and stopping by this page of late. I guess it is because we are nearing our 45th high school reunion.. oh my!!

I will not be heading up the committe to have a reunion this time around, but I have heard that there are a few people trying to make an event happen.

If you are interested in being involved in the planning, email me at heart-throscopy@gmail.com with your info and I will gladly pass it along to the right people.

Maybe we can get together a few more times before we leave this place :)

HUGS

Wall Collapse at Mt. Vernon High School Causes Major Damage to Building

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A wall collapse at Mount Vernon High School caused major damage to the building.

Sonia Rincon Reports

The second floor auditorium wall in the rear of the school came down after 5 p.m. Monday and caused a partial collapse of the roof below it.

Classes had ended for the day, but students were still in the building for after-school activities at the time of the incident. However, nobody was in the area where the wall collapsed and no injuries have been reported. It is not clear what caused the wall to come down.

School officials say classes will be cancelled on Tuesday and officials say no one will be allowed back into the building until engineers say it is safe.

So What's Been Going On?

Well, I've been so busy and the time has flown. The summer has come and gone in what seems like a blink of an eye.

I went to visit my precious grandkids [I have two now--a girl and a boy!] What a wonderful time I had with them. I had them all to myself and loved every minute of it. So much love and so much fun. God is so good! [for those of you who don't know, my granddaughter is a miracle child who had a rare condition -- died a few times during her 6 hrs on the ER table and then was given "no hope" -- thank you Lord for your mercy -- she is healthy and amazing!]

You already know I went to a number of concerts this summer, but since my last post, I was able to see Bucky Covington [again], Keith Anderson, Jason Michael Carroll [Jason is also a fav and is a special guy too], Jake Owens, and the American Idol tour [again] with my favorite AI being Jason Castro [keep your eyes and ears open for Jason Castro --he's the one with the dreads]. It was a fun summer. Of course my best part was getting to see Bucky because it is like seeing an old friend [even though I am a fan]. And just to share about Bucky, Bucky is one of only three male Country music stars since 2005 to have three consecutive top ten hits. Way to Go Bucky!! [oh, watch for Bucky in the new Hannah Montana movie coming out in 2009]

So, speaking of old friends, I spent more time this summer with Patty Rizzatello and Sandy Stroud. It is always fun to get together with them. I am missing the other part of our group -- Lindy Roberts -- but since she moved down south we haven't gotten together in a few years. Sandy lives far too but pops up occasionally. So, it is time again and I am going south to visit Sandy. It just so happens [cough, cough] that Bucky is playing in the town where Sandy lives so I will be getting to see a few old friends the same weekend! Looking forward to that.

I also have plans to go see Jason Castro in concert next month with Patti LaBelle -- now how cool is that!

I have been keeping in touch with a few classmates by email and phone. I am also on myspace and facebook so here and there I find someone or they find me. I have noticed though that a lot of people in our class do not use the computer. What's with that??? You have to advance technologicially to stay on top of things or the world will pass you by in a flash.

Well, since nobody actually is participating in this class blog anyway LOL, I am just gonna put it right out there and state my convictions. I absolutely am voting for McCain/Palin and I know that since I'm from NY, I am in the minority here. [Being from a Democrat family and you know my dad was a politician -- my dad would roll over in his grave if he knew his party had become what is has, this is my own choice] My convictions are my convictions, and they go deeper than geography, to me they are deeply rooted in scripture and I am responsible to God for my choices so I do not take making a choice lightly. Thank God we still have the freedom to state our own beliefs. So, that being said.. I still love my liberal friends and if anyone cares to post, you are welcome, but I will not participate in a heated debate because friendships are worth more than hitting someone over the head in anger to prove a point -- and since both sides obviously think they are right, it would just tear apart the ties of friendship.

Lastly, on a sad note, I was informed that our classmate, Ted Ruddiman, passed away on October 16, 2008 losing a battle with Cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. If you knew Ted personally in school or have kept in touch with him, I hope you treasure the memories.

God bless and Hugs!

Should I change the name of this Blog?

Good Morning all,
I was wondering if I should change the name of this Blog to "MY BLOG", since this blog seems to be all about my thoughts and the concerts I go to? (Thanx Kimberly for your comment girl :) HUGS TO YOU!!)

Well, I went to the American Idol Live Tour and it was awesome. I wasn't going to go but then decided and got myself some nosebleeds for the September concert. Well, my birthday was a few weeks ago and someone offered me tix to the concert at a more local venue that I had not purchased -- so I said "Why Not?"

I had the most awesome birthday! Before the show, 30 of the Jersey Girl DH's got together in a private room at a restaurant and they had a little party for me. It was very special. What was even better was that I got to meet and pray with the humble Jason Castro. I got to actually get a few minutes with him 3 different times. I wouldn't give two cents for someone with entitlement 'tude (which includes most celebrities), but the humbleness and appreciativeness of Jason was so refreshing and genuine. (Bucky Covington has those same qualities) I guess I prefer "real" people over those that are plastic. You can usually tell when people "put it on" and let me tell you Jason doesn't put any airs on, the qualities are in him through and through. It was a wonderful birthday gift. Jason is already setting a number of different records in his very short career and the world is surely taking notice. Way to Go Jason! (DH#2897)

On another note, I got a birthday call from another Jason after one of his concerts and it was unexpected and appreciated. Something he absolutely did not have to do, but did. (Thanx to my girl Trish :) JMC - Another artist that does not have entitlement 'tude.

My observation is that it appears that the ones that have faith in God are less likely to think they are "all it" because they know they are blessed with their talent and opportunities. I pray they stay that way as time goes on.

Well, off to work -- Have a blessed day!

A Mt. Vernon Son

When my dad was a policeman, the force and the families were very close. I can remember having big Christmas parties with the family. All the policeman were my "uncles". I thought I would post this in case some of you knew the Kellys.
Steven was born in 1967 but the family is very well known in Mt. Vernon. Captain Jack Kelly, his father, was on the force for a long time and was one of my dad friend's "Big Jack".

OBIT:
KELLY, STEVEN M.
Steven Kelly of Yonkers passed away suddenly on July 23, 2008.
Steven was born May 15, 1967 in NYC to Jack and Jeanne Kelly. Graduating from Blessed Sacrament High School in 1985, Steven then attended Iona College.
Steven was introduced to the MVPD in 1989, and served for 13 years until 2001. He then became the assistant principal for Blessed Sacrament High School.
Steven married Geraldine Fico on June 26, 1992 at St. Peter and Paul Church.
He played softball for many years in Mt. Vernon and Yonkers. He was an avid Redskins fan. Steven is survived by his wife Geraldine, two sons Brian age 9 and James age 7, brother Jack Kelly, mother Jeanne Kelly, mother in-law Jean Fico, brothers and sisters-in-law Louis and Maria Fico, John and Claire Fico, Joanne and Manny Chirico, Frank and Margery Fico and many nieces and nephews.
Closest and best friend Phil Yovanopoulos. Predeceased by his son Sean, father Capt. Jack Kelly MVPD and father in law Pat Fico. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kelly Children's Education Fund would be appreciated.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday from 3-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle on Saturday at 10:30 AM. YANNANTUONO BURR DAVIS SHARPE FUNERAL HOME 584 Gramatan Avenue Mt. Vernon, NY 10552
